Leicester West is one of three Labour constituencies in Leicester and is divided into six wards: Abbey, Braunstone Park and Rowley Fields, Beaumont Leys, Fosse, Westcotes and Western Park. Our constituency has always been Labour: our MP, Liz Kendall, and all the ward councillors represent the Labour Party.

We have a large and active membership and run regular campaign sessions and social events at branch and constituency level.

CLP Officers

Leicester West CLP (Constituency Labour Party) elects a group of CLP officers to manage the constituency party and the work we do. These officers have a specific job or area of interest to look after as part of their role.

CLP Officers are elected annually at the AGM in November.

Meetings

The CLP has regular meetings, usually on a Thursday evening or a Saturday morning. All members are welcome to attend and take part, although at certain meetings, only delegates can vote.

To find out about your branch meetings, contact your branch secretary (or contact the CLP secretary by emailing leicesterwestclp@gmail.com if you are not sure who this is).

There is also a Campaign Committee run by the Campaigns Officer, a Women’s Forum run by the Women’s Officers and a Disability Forum open to disabled members, carers and anyone with a strong interest in disability issues.

Campaigning across Leicester

As well as campaigning at ward, constituency and national level, we also work closely with Leicester East and Leicester South CLPs on city-wide issues, as part of the Local Government Committee.
